A Reader's Kitchen Makeover You Have to See

I love a good kitchen makeover as much as the next Pinterest-addicted gal, but sometimes one stands out above the rest, and this is one of those times.

I can't stop loving Kristi's new cabinet makeover and ledge shelf over at I Should Be Mopping the Floor.  It could have something to do with the fact that it reminds me of my own kitchen range and shelf (which she says was her inspiration for the idea), but I think it's mainly because it's just plain awesome.

This is the before.  She literally transformed her builder-grade cabinets into a custom look with varied height and a shelf ledge!  Not to mention the paint job.  And she did it all herself!

I love it!   It's gonna be so fun for her to decorate for the seasons!

And she gives her step-by-step tutorial so you can do it, too. Click over to read all the details on how she did it so you can pin it for when you need it later.

Thanks, Kristi, for allowing me to inspire you so that you can inspire us and we can all inspire someone else.

And now that I'm singing,"You're the meaning in my life,  You're the inspiration...", I'm off to pin this and spread a little hope to someone dreaming of a better kitchen.

Have you done your own version of a project you've seen here at the blog?  I'd love to hear about it!  Send me your pics!

Reader's Spotlight & a Giveaway!

One of my favorite parts of writing this blog is "meeting" new people and hearing from readers.  I never cease to be amazed at the reach of this little site and the people who stop by here to see what I'm up to and  write me so many nice comments and emails.  It means a lot to me to hear that you've been inspired by something I've done, but I'm also inspired so many times by the things you all do as well.

And today I have a little Reader Spotlight for you from a reader who's also a Mom-preneuer from Colorado.  She recently sent me some of her yummy-smelling candles, which are simply divine.  I've been using my candles like crazy since I received them and almost had to hide them from my sister when she was recently visiting me because she threatened to take them home with her!

Here's what Alicia has to say about her candles:

"My name is Alicia Hanks, and I am thrilled to have our candles featured on Less Than Perfect Life of Bliss, one of my favorite blogs!!  I am a pastor's wife in Colorado, and the mom of five beautiful children.  I started Mountain Lights LLC about two years ago, and my goal has been to make candles that you can actually smell!  I love candles, but continually found myself disappointed in the lack of scent in the candles that I bought and brought home.  A candle smelled nice in the store, but had no smell when I burned it.  Sometimes, a candle would smell great, but it was gone in just a few hours.  Our candles last between 30 to 40 hours and they smell great all the way to the bottom of the can.  Our candles are Curiously Strong, and can fill a room with fragrance.  Some of our fragrances can be smelled from the driveway!

We've rated them so you can have idea of how strong the different fragrances can be.  We've been told by many customers that our candles do not cause headaches that our customers would normally would get from a candle.  That is because we use cotton wicks, vegetable based wax, and quality fragrances.  You just can't beat homemade goodness!  We have some wonderful Spring fragrances that would make a great Mother's Day or Easter gift for the candle lover in your life:  Blackberry Sage, Sage and Lemongrass, Pear Spice, Lilac, Cranberry Apple and lots of other wonderful fragrances.

Please check out our website, and follow us on Facebook: Mountain Lights LLC (Grand Junction, CO). "

I have the Sage & Lemongrass (which smells fresh & clean), the Cinnamon Bun (which will send everyone running to the oven, looking for cinnamon buns), and Black Raspberry & Vanilla, (which is is just dreamy).

You'll be thrilled to know that Alicia's giving away a free candle to one lucky Life of Bliss reader.  All you need to do is visit Mountain Lights LLC, check out her current fragrances, and leave a comment here, telling which one you'd choose.  For an extra entry, become a fan of her candles on Facebook (then leave another comment, stating that you did).

Giveaway closes Wednesday night (3/28/12) at 11:59 pm.  Winner will be randomly chosen and announced on my Facebook page on Thursday.  Good luck!

Reader's Spotlight: Girly Reading Nook

One of my favorite parts about writing this blog is getting to know my readers & hearing about your passion for creativity & the projects you've done. The home blogging community is such a fun place to get inspiration & make new friends in the process. But it's not only blog writers that that have that knack for DIY know-how... blog readers know their way around a craft room, too & even though their talent isn't always showcased for the world to see, that doesn't mean they're not awesome.

Today I want to introduce you to one of those awesome crafter friends of mine who just happens to be a reader. This is my IRL (in real life) friend, Lynn.

This is where Lynn crafts...
(caution--these pics may evoke feelings of jealousy)

Isn't it gorgeous? And my favorite part is the metal table top which isn't actually metal at all, but is metallic contact paper from Lowes. Who knew! I love it. And I know some of you are grabbing your flip flops right now so you can head to Lowes, but just hang on a second & see the rest of this...

She also spray painted some clearance chairs a chic white, made some seat cushions, painted a gorgeous stencil on the wall, & transformed a tired brass chandelier into a gorgeous feminine fixture.

Love it all. But one of Lynn's latest & greatest projects is something I know many of you will flip over. She got her inspiration from (who else?) bloggers!

This is her daughter's new built-in Reading Nook transformed from a closet.

It's a little girl's dream space, complete with baskets for books & cozy pillows to curl up with.

Lynn did most of the project herself, with a little help from her husband.

They constructed the bench much like this project from Thrifty Decor Chick, one of her sources of inspiration.

Lynn sewed all the pillows from fabrics she found on sale at Hobby Lobby...

Added a cute lantern fixture for a little more light...

And made the curtains, which she hung from a tension rod positioned near the track for the original doors.

The built-in shelves hold baskets for books.

And the best part about it is that nothing is permanent. They kept all the shelving & closet doors for an easy switch back to a closet, should they decide to do that in the future.

But, for now, it's the perfect place to hide out with a friend!

It works well for an extra bed when company comes, too!

Thanks, Lynn, for letting me show off your project so it can inspire someone else out there!

And, friends, keep those projects coming! If you've done a great project the world needs to see, let me know! I'd love to hear about it & share it with my readers.
