Last Minute Easy Easter Basket & My First Link Party!

If you still have time between now and Easter to sit down & make a little craft with the kids, here's one you might want to try:

It's so simple! My inspiration came from this little basket I bought last year at World Market.

This basket would be great for holding a few cookies or Easter treats for a hostess gift! Here's what you need to make it: a small box (you can recycle something from your pantry like I did!), a few sheets of felt, craft glue, & a stapler.

I started with an empty Capri Sun box. I measured about 1-3/4" from the bottom, then cut around it with a box cutter.

Then, I cut some green felt & covered the bottom of the box, both inside & out using my craft glue.

Next, I cut two strips of pink felt to make the handle. For this part, I used the stiff felt that comes in a 12" x 18" sheet. (By the way, all felt sheets are 30% off this week at Hobby Lobby). I then glued the two strips together.

While I was letting the glue dry on the handles, I cut the green felt needed to cover the sides of the box. You will need 2 pieces for each side of the box, for a total of 8 pieces. Each piece needs to be the exact length of the side it's covering and twice the height. After you cut the pieces, take your scissors & carefully cut the "blades" by cutting out triangles. Be careful not to go farther than half-way down the height of the felt.

After the green felt pieces are cut, staple each end of the handle to the basket, using a couple staples on each side.

Now it's time to glue on the "grass". Cover the box by sandwiching it between the two pieces of felt that you cut for each side. Don't worry if a little of the glue shows through. It will dry clear later.

The last step is to add a little flower! The original basket has a felt flower, but I decided to make a little ribbon loop flower with a button. There are a million ways to finish it off. That's it, y'all!
